Bruce Bump

Port Royal

This is the Port Royal. This style of gun/knife is called a Cut & Shoot. They originated in the 16th century probably in Germany or France. The original purpose was for use in hog hunting, you would stick your prey with the blade and then pull the trigger, hard to miss if the barrel stays on the target. Later uses of this type weapon were as a boarding weapon. Imagine a pirate having a gun and knife available as one. The Port Royal was built by Bruce Bump and the engraving is by Brian Hochstrat. There is a W.I.P. (Work In Progress) thread on Bruce's Knifedogs sub-forum showing the process of the building of the Port Royal, check it out HERE.
